Who needs an alarm clock,
When, at 4 A.M. each morning,
The friendly little Turkish man,
Who speaks no English,
But, smiles at me, American,
Who speaks no Turkish,
Kurmanji, Arabic, or Zazaki,
Whichever his native tongue,
Bangs open the furnace door,
And shovels in the coal,
In the basement immediately
Underneath my U.S. Army,
Government issue bed?
