Do you procrastinate like I do
Put it off for one more day…
Is your excuse it’s “writer’s block”
Or you don’t know what to say
First eat that apple fritter
And pour a second cup
Of that good old Irish coffee
Before saying “That’s enough!”
Procrastinate, procrastinate
That’s why you’re always late
For goodness sakes, just write a line
Don’t let your best words hibernate!
You shake your head and stare at it
The blank page stares right back
You despise the hesitation…
Or is it your reservation…
That it won’t be good enough

Thanks, Susan!
You're so right - it IS the editing phase that gives us the most joy!
I must be an editor by nature... I can always get started because I know it's in the working and reworking that I polish and refine to get the piece just right.
That said, I love your poems, Lorene!
I like that, George!
When I do commit, ideas that have been stored come together...then it's fairly easy to write, albeit I might change that last line again and again before I'm satisfied. I love the entire process!
Or as Adam Grant put it: Procrastination is thinking again.
Or maybe waiting until you're ready to give birth to the poem.
