Florida Birds - Adult Anhinga
Adult Anhinga, also sometimes called the Snakebird because of it's long winding neck. This male Aninga is doing a mating dance and I watched for more than 30 mins and the female in brown was not impressed.
One of my favorite acts is to watch the male birds dancing in front of females.

Florida Birds - Great Egret
On a trip to Florida, I captured these images of the water birds I came across. This is the Great Egret or White Heron.

Florida Birds - Roseate Spoonbill
The Roseate Spoonbill is gorgeous at a distance and bizarre close up. It has pink feathers and orangey tail making it one of the most colorful wadding birds in the U.S. Here it is next to a Blue Heron (at left).

Florida Birds - Hawaiian Gallinule
The Hawaiian gallinule is an endangered chicken-sized water bird in the rail family.

Florida Birds - Roseate Spoonbill
Often seen in the company of other wading birds, the Roseate Spoonbill truly stands out.

Florida Birds - Green Ibis
Also known as the Cayenne Ibis, a resident of Central and Southern Americas.

Florida Birds - Immature Anhinga
Anhingas are large and slender waterbirds with long fanlike tails that resemble a turkey's tail. They have a long S-shaped neck and a daggerlike bill. In flight, Anhingas look like a flying cross; the wings are held out flat and the neck and tail stick straight out. They have slim bodies and look rather flattened in flight.

Florida Birds - Wood Stork
The Wood Stork provides one of the most incisive indicators of how well the Everglades is functioning. A large bird that needs a lot of food, the Wood Stork feeds entirely tactilely groping along the shallow water with its bill agape in anticipation of running into something to eat.

Florida Birds - Tricolored Heron
Tricolored Heron, also known as the Louisiana Heron.
