- ONE DAY SHE TOOK WING, AND OTHER POEMS, APRIL 22, 2024In Poetry·April 23, 2024one day she took wing urged by a broken angel to soar skies of love ----- they look at my words all that anyone can see poet anonymous ----- restless all these years bound punished and degraded by family and friends then love she'd never known in forms she had not dared dream was shown her by a master the velvet restraints seemed to be just made for her his arms her safest place so she entered into love gave herself to gain it all he already wished for her ----- she is a true muse words of love trust and desire given me to use ----- do not be ashamed to profess the love you feel in honest open words ----- i keep watch for you the muse who speaks from her heart longing to touch you to be touched by you ----- will you be my words images that fill my mind rhythm that drives me ----- i will write of you though our names have never met and we love alone ----- our small universe two leaves on the same tree doomed to never meet ----- the words you have caused love stories you've inspired starring you and me ----- love lay beside her in the dirt and mud her treasure disdained by one who should hove loved her, but left her... another lifted her cherished her eternal gift in the chapel of his heart the love chambers of their bodies ----- once woke beside love so long that place is empty only filled with dreams ----- opens her pages begging me to write my words her nectar my ink ----- i've long lived with dreams reality passed me by and you left as well ----- tried to give you love but despite freedom offered i was not your dream ----- gave all that i could asked so little in return got much less than that ----- i dreamed of a muse who understood my need for her who urged me to love her ----- poet and his dream never met but we became the greatest lovers ----- stripped of her heavy armor stinking wet with fear and tears naked to his loving arms safe here she can weep safe here she can be herself safe here she can leave that terrible world behind safe here in his loving arms ----- love's about secrets not those hidden but shared proudly and with trust ----- i have quit hoping much too old to have such dreams but still they come ----- i've spent life alone amidst crowds and gaiety wandered like a ghost • Donovan Baldwin125

- LongingsIn Poetry·August 28, 2024Your words are like sticky knives Sweet quills laced with arsenic Floating across the miles Aiming for my heart Your aim is deadly, hitting marks Passionate invitations Touching heart and tender spots Tracing my desires I long to be as you describe Running free to love, explore Our hearts and limbs entwined Beating out our own love song Dark poet with eager mind Oft I feel your kisses soft Running down my neck, wet like tears upon hot skin Come explore where dreams begin Together holding hands Trapsing sand and towering wood As we were when life began126

- VIBRATING CRYSTAL, AND OTHER POEMS, OCTOBER 31, 2024In Poetry·November 1, 2024vibrating crystal in her fragile ecstasy about to shatter ----- poet in shadows disguising his tears as ink his sorrow as love ----- butterflies rising at your petals' unfolding hummingbird feeding ----- i write much of love other uncommon feelings words i can't define ----- no mourning for the poet who's already dead whose words seem alive ----- i have things to do things the living must deal with until they are dead ----- her past left behind with her clothes and inhibitions her journey begins ----- guttural his growl bestial moan that she evokes her body trembling ----- she crosses the room a naked inspiration he writes of tonight ----- in some other age we embraced becoming one lovers once before ----- a onetime poet surrounded now by empty words which have no purpose ----- spreads pastel petals to catch the blast of his storm wet with frenzied rain ----- i wait immobile fingers poised above the keys my muse deserts me ------ i fear my own words tiny swords which cut both ways foolishly wielded ----- pleasures of poetry words slippery secretions tastefully traded • Donovan Baldwin124

- Le Cash and CookIn Poetry·November 19, 2022Le Cash had worked many years at the old State Cattlemen’s Bank... He was the president’s fair-haired boy – groomed for the job, but the bank he did rob... Briefcase of money, he crossed the state line. With that and the money, ‘twas a federal crime. A fifteen-year-sentence… he got out in five - a crime for which he paid dearly. He lost his wife, his family and worth and continued to pay for that clearly. “I’ll pick Mr. Le Cash up first,” he said... The driver pulled up to the curb. She whispered to Bob, “Could that be him? He’s still in prison, or else we’d have heard.” Tall and lanky, he held an old hanky - the man had lost much of his hair. His face was sallow, breath was shallow... She wanted to ask… did she dare? He picked a seat and while still on his feet, said, “I ride this Lift here and there.” “Are you Tom Le Cash who worked at the bank and, if so, do you recognize me?” He squinted his eyes, paused and then said, “No mam, I do not… and who might you be?” “I knew it was you when I took the first look - I was your secretary, Sara Lee Cook.” “Now I remember, you did dress in style, but what stood out most was that beautiful smile.” “May I ask, how is it you ride this bus? You don’t look disabled, but you look so pale.” “The pneumonia hit hard and I have no car... The doc got me qualified because I'm so frail.” With a worried look, Sara Lee asked – “Who takes care of you, who cooks your meals?” “My daughter takes care of me… She’s got some wheels… ‘See, when I was released, I landed a job at a place I made loans to, the Thunderbird House. The manager I worked with had much more in mind and before I knew it, I had a spouse! ‘Fast-forward five – that woman who hired me – all too soon she grew tired of me. She took the dog, she took my guitar, took all my money and then took the car.” Funny, how things turn out. ©Lorene Rogers November 16, 2022118
- AGENT PROVOCATEURIn Poetry·December 11, 2022Innocent was I, Or so I claimed, Til she, The agent provocateur... Sent me coded messages, Hinting at a reality, Which I before Had only dared to dream, In secret and in silence, Certain I was alone, In my disaffection. Upon the breastworks of The defenses she erected, I responded to her blandishments, "Speak not to me in code, Agent provocateur. If you would incite me, and arouse me To follow you upon this path, Of danger, excitement, And adventure, Say all plain and true, In words I understand." Thrusting herself bravely forward, Her message she presented, More plainly, Clad only in its naked truth, And I, Unwillingly, Of course... Weakened, And entered in her cause, Following her along hidden paths, Which took us to secret places, Full of the intensity of the danger... And, wild ecstasy of daring conflict. She led me up to tops of mountains, Where light bloomed in ways, Which long I had not seen, Also into deep, dark caverns, Full of mystery, For intimate meetings laden with secrecy, And promises. She brewed for me a potion, Guaranteed to win the soul, Of any to be led to her belief... A potion which she had ME drink, To prove its true effectiveness, Which left me, stiffened with resolve To join her in her quest, Until its very end... A final battle full of fire, Explosion, and, at last Luxurious rest due the victorious. Many times strove she and I together, Until one day, as if lovers We stepped forth Before the multitude, Where I pronounced my allegiance, To my... Agent provocateur, At the appointed time, turning To reveal her to all assembled, Only to find, Her gone. I was left alone by her betrayal, To face two fates: The wrath of those maimed by my deceit, But even worse,... A lifetime without My... Agent provocateur -Donovan Baldwin1112
