MOON PAINTS HER SILVER

moon paints her silver

her mysteries all hidden

in patches of dark

-----

i write you daily

even words you never see

my heart says i must

-----

young she was in age

her old and beautiful soul

joined to his young one

-----

i have known lonely

as if the last man on earth

in the midst of others

-----

deep within her dark

shone my light into her soul

burning words of love

-----

some might think HER strange

in the strangeness of this land

all she's done for love

none but he can understand

what her love must do

-----

not that i love her

any more or any less

than all those she loves

for we are so much alike

in the way we share our love

-----

she must share her love

he knows and follows her heart

supports all her needs

-----

always at her side

accepting her as she is

a loving woman

-----

my cuts and bruises

even those that can't be seen

a soldier's roadmap

the wounds still bleeding

broken hearts and weeping nights

that may never heal

the hours spent alone

with their invisible wounds

in absence of love
