- I LAVISH KISSESIn Poetry·April 20, 2024i lavish kisses on soft skin she exposes where shoulder meets neck ----- a painful silence moments i don't hear from you i feel so alone ----- i cast forth poems hoping at least for echoes you answer silence ----- love's a theory imaginary concept i know must be real ----- in dreams together hand-in-hand crossing the edge into reality ----- to understand me you must understand true love its link to freedom ----- i would not bind you but with shared words and desires and true love's freedom ----- she does not submit but rather commits herself to love's wide expression ----- though my work of art i may not see or touch you just write about you ----- once wrote without lust could not understand my need minus the passion ----- you understand my truth mortals love but poets lust write of both at once ----- Premonition on the wind Gliding beneath dark clouds Above the shadowed earth Moaning in ecstatic passage, Fondling leaves, Caressing flowers, In darkness as, Their unseen blushes Give evidence to the Accuracy of its promises. ----- you and i make love green grass bed and bare blue sky caressing wind and sun ----- In the dark, an owl cries Evoking ancient memories Written in the blood Raising runes of mythic fears Upon the trembling flesh As the fearful cry resounds Against the choral background Of wind and unknown creatures, Moving darkly through The watching forest. ----- ariadne on the shore marooned as theseus sailed away to his father's death ----- arriving at the stone walled city wrapped within a ragged cloak emissary from cross wine dark seas upon an ancient horse telling and retelling stories whicpered in the dark, sung at the fire before dawn's battle, for singer, song, and memory may die with the sunrise • Donovan Baldwin002
- SOFT NEW-FALLEN SNOW, AND OTHER POEMS, APRIL 20, 2024In Poetry·April 21, 2024Soft, new-fallen snow, Pure tablet written on, Marks of mystic beasts, For poets see Chimeras and centaurs In the passages of Horses and horned toads, Taking indentations in The pure white medium, Turning them into tales as Mysterious and convoluted as, Tracks of rabbits in the snow. ----- hands two simple things they touch and magic happens words become meaningless ----- stripping silken words poet slowly reveals her wearing but a smile ----- I drift within my thoughts, Like falling snow, seeking ground, Chooses to ride the wind a while. I too, ride that wind listening To the thousand lewd tales it tells, In brushes with slender naked limbs Of black trees swaying seductively on The moon's silver dance floor. ----- I know I once was here, In this familiar place I seek Someone left behind, One more time I return, Hoping, praying she, Of that ancient history, Will enter the same dream, Remembering... And run to me. • Donovan Baldwin001

- Kilpack Enters Movie Option Agreement for Award-Winning Sci-Fi Novella Pale FaceIn General Discussion·April 22, 2024Kilpack Enters Movie Option Agreement for Award-Winning Sci-Fi Novella Pale Face West Jordan, Uta. — Award-winning Utah author W.D. Kilpack III recently entered into an exclusive option agreement with Safe Harbor Films, LLC, to develop a feature film from his science-fiction novella, Pale Face. Kilpack will also be writing the screenplay. Kilpack said, "This is an amazing step for me as an author. It will be an amazing ride, I'm sure, going through the production process with all of the ups and downs that I've read about but will soon be seeing firsthand. With it being made by a small, independent production company, I'll get to be involved a lot more than otherwise, and that is extremely appealing. I've dreamt about seeing my books come to life on the big screen, although I may not be able to see the screen the first time, because I might be a sobbing mess. I can't wait!" Pale Face centers around Hector Whitehorse, who was born on a New Mexico reservation, but educated in the white-man’s school, making him part of two worlds, but at home in neither. It only got worse when his entrapment went from a feeling to a reality: trapped between Earth and someplace else after a close encounter nearly costs him his life. Tony A. Angelo, president of Safe Harbor Films, said, "We're so excited to officially bring Pale Face into our project lineup. The novella is brilliant and short enough that I read it while on a plane flight. I could see, smell, hear, touch, even taste things as they happened. I love the main character, Hector Whitehorse. I have also been fascinated by Native American culture for most of my life, so this will be a fun and exciting project, taking Western storytelling into a new genre-blending direction. We at Safe Harbor Films are so very excited for what the future holds!" Kilpack and Safe Harbor Films will make this production different through fan involvement. Angelo said, "Safe Harbor Films really believes in fostering creativity, so we're going to extend an opportunity to the book's readers or other Safe Harbor Films fans to take an active part. They can subscribe with Safe Harbor Films or the author and we will have ways for readers to go online and make suggestions for the film adaptation, like who they imagined as Hector or Dr. Masters when reading it, or what they imagined a particular scene looking like, or even just asking, 'What was your favorite scene from the book?' If people have not read the book yet, they can pick up the ebook cheap or get it on Kindle Unlimited for free, or even the paperback's inexpensive. I really look forward to getting that fan involvement!" Pale Face received Honorable Mention from the L Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future Contest and recently received the International Firebird Book Award. These are two of the 23 book awards Kilpack has received, between Pale Face and his epic-fantasy series, The New Blood Saga, which is currently four books (of a planned eight). Soon, he will have a sixth book published, the epic sci-fi Battle Calm. International best-selling author Dave Wolverton said Pale Face is "pretty darned good. I like it. I love how [Hector] sees the aliens and the white men in the same light. A nice, brutal, ironic twist ... this is good stuff." V.J. Garske, author of The Raven Moonstone, said, "Pale Face pulled me in immediately. I loved the descriptive writing and the original plot. Hector grew up on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico, where UFO sitings are common, although not readily believed, but his experience changes his life in ways one wouldn't imagine. I enjoyed the fast pace and believable struggle as he deals with trying to make sense of his life-changing experience. Close encounters of an original kind!"
